We are pleased that you are interested in Midnight Motorway. Protecting your data is important to us. This notice explains which personal data is processed when playing the game and visiting these pages, for what purpose, and on what legal basis.

The game itself can be played in full without any personal data being transmitted to us. Two features are optional and independent of each other: anonymous usage statistics and the player account with leaderboards. Only you can activate both of these.

When visiting these pages

When you access this website, your device transmits technically necessary data such as your IP address, the date and time of access, and details about your browser and operating system. This data is used exclusively to ensure the secure and stable delivery of the site. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is stored for only a few days and then deleted.

In-game usage statistics (optional)

To help us improve Midnight Motorway, the game can collect anonymous usage data. This happens only if you have explicitly consented in advance. When you start the game for the first time, it will ask you for this; without your consent, no such data will be collected or transmitted. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

The following data may be collected, for example: gameplay actions and events, transitions between game sections, your approximate progress in the game, a rough description of the game state, crash reports for troubleshooting, general device information, your IP address and an approximate region derived from it, as well as timestamps. This data is assigned to a random device identifier - not your name. It is processed on a server of Jappy GmbH in Germany and is not shared with advertising networks or other third parties.

You can withdraw your consent at any time in the game’s settings; data collection will then stop immediately. You can also request a copy of the data stored for your device at any time via the game (Art. 15 GDPR) or request its deletion (Art. 17 GDPR). The data is stored until you withdraw your consent or request deletion; beyond that, only anonymous, non-attributable evaluations remain.

Player Account and Leaderboards (optional)

You may voluntarily create a player account to enter your points in the online leaderboards. The account is only created once you choose a nickname yourself. The legal basis is the performance of this function requested by you (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

The account includes: your chosen nickname, an avatar including color, your scores for each track and in the global table, the time of your last activity, as well as your IP address and an approximate region derived from it. Your nickname and your score are publicly visible to other players in the leaderboards. Therefore, choose a nickname that does not allow conclusions to be drawn about your identity, and do not enter any personal data there.

You can delete your account at any time in the game. When deleted, your account data and your leaderboard entries will be removed; this is also the means to access and erase data under Art. 15 and 17 GDPR.

Linking the two functions

Usage statistics and player account are separate. The two are only linked if you explicitly and actively want this — never automatically. You can undo a link that has been established at any time.

Children

Midnight Motorway is harmless in terms of content and designed without realistic depictions of violence, so the game itself is suitable for all ages. However, the two data-processing functions - usage statistics and player account - are not intended for children under 16 years of age.

Before either of these functions can be used, the user’s age is asked. Anyone who states that they are younger than 16 can continue to play the game fully and without restriction - but no usage data will be collected and no account will be created. This ensures that no personal data from children is processed. If we become aware that such data has nevertheless reached us, we will delete it.

Languages of these pages

These pages are automatically machine-translated into your language as needed. The German version is binding; in the event of discrepancies or ambiguities, the German text shall prevail.

Your Rights
